Pragati Book Houses

Pragati Book Houses is located on Avenue Road. We are at number one, right across from Rise Memorial Church. If you know this area, you know how crowded it gets. Books are everywhere here. We have stacks of them. Some are new, some look like they've been sitting there forever. We try to keep track of everything, but sometimes a book gets buried under another pile. It’s a small space, so you have to watch your step. The church across the street is a good landmark if you're trying to find us for the first time. People come in looking for all sorts of things, mostly students or people who just like reading. Avenue Road is always noisy with the vehicles and people shouting. Inside the shop, it’s a bit quieter but still feels busy. We spend a lot of time moving boxes around. It is a lot of work keeping a book shop running. We don't have fancy computers to tell us where every single page is. We just know where things are mostly kept. Sometimes we find a book we forgot we had. It's a bit messy but that's how a real book house looks. We've been here a good while. The floor is a bit worn out from all the walking. We just stay open until the sun goes down and the crowds thin out. It’s just us and the books every day.
