Pracheta Book House

Pracheta Book House is tucked away on the ground floor right above Hotel Shanthi Sagar. If you know Bull Temple Road in Chamrajpet, you probably know where that hotel is. We’ve been here for a good while, and honestly, the smell of sambar and coffee from downstairs is just part of our daily life now. Our shop isn't anything fancy to look at. We have rows of wooden shelves that have seen better days, and books are stacked pretty high, sometimes almost to the ceiling. It’s a bit of a squeeze when more than three people are inside at once. We mostly help the local students and people living nearby with their stationery and textbooks. Sometimes we forget to update the prices on the stickers, so we have to check the old ledger we keep by the till. It’s a bit dusty because of all the traffic outside on the main road, but we try to wipe things down when we get a spare minute between customers. The door sticks a little in the rainy season, so you have to give it a bit of a shove to get in. We don't have a big sign or bright lights, just the old board out front. Most folks just know we’re here by word of mouth. It’s a simple way to run a business, and it works for us and the neighborhood.
