Nesma Books

At Nesma Books, we are settled in at number 60 on Lalbagh Road. It is a good spot to be, especially with all the trees nearby. The road gets quite a lot of traffic during the day, so there is always a hum of engines in the background. Our shop has a bit of an older feel to it. The walls have been the same color for a long time, and the floor shows where people have walked the most. We open the shutters every morning and let the air in, though sometimes the dust from the road comes in with it. We spend our time sorting through new arrivals and putting things back where they belong. It is not a complicated business. We have a lot of regulars who stop by on their way home from work. Some of them have been coming here since we first opened. We don't really do much in the way of advertising. Usually, someone just tells a friend about us or they see the sign while waiting at the light. The shelves are made of dark wood and they are starting to sag a little under the weight of everything. We try to keep things in order, but every now and then a stack of books just decides to lean over. That is just part of being a bookstore on a busy street like Lalbagh Road. It's comfortable here. Sometimes the shop gets a bit dark when the sun goes behind the buildings, so we have to flip the extra switches.
