Madhuram Musics & Book House

Our shop is over in Rajajinagar, specifically 538/4 in the 3rd Block on 12th Main Road. It’s a bit different because we have both music and books. Madhuram Musics & Book House isn't a huge place. One side is mostly instruments and strings, and the other side is filled with books. It makes for an interesting mix of people coming through the door. You might have someone looking for a violin string standing next to someone looking for a history book. We’ve been in this neighborhood for years. The 12th Main Road has changed a lot, but we’ve stayed pretty much the same. We don’t have fancy displays or bright lights. It’s just shelves and counters. Sometimes we play a bit of music if it’s a slow afternoon. My brother helps out with the instruments while I mostly look after the book side. We get a lot of students from the local schools. They usually need something for their classes. We spend a lot of time cleaning the glass cases and dusting the covers. It’s a lot of work to keep track of everything in such a small space. People like that they can find two things in one spot. We don't have a big marketing plan or anything like that. We just open up in the morning and see who comes in. It’s a nice way to spend the day.
