Madhu Book House

Madhu Book House is on the 1st Floor of the Sankarappa Building. We are located in Sanjeebappa Lane, which is just off Avenue Road. Being on the first floor means we have to carry every single box of books up the stairs, which is definitely a workout. The building is an older one, number 79, and it has a lot of character. We don't have the big windows or the bright lights of the shops on the main road, but it’s a bit quieter up here. We have filled every corner of this room with books of all kinds. Sometimes it feels like the walls are closing in because we have so much stock. We spend our days answering the phone and checking our lists to see what came in. It is a simple setup with just some wooden shelves and a counter. We don't use any fancy systems to keep track of things; we just know where the piles are. Sanjeebappa Lane can be easy to miss if you are in a hurry, but once you find the Sankarappa Building, you just head upstairs. It is mostly local students and teachers who come by to see us. We are just regular people running a small business in a crowded part of the city. It’s a lot of dust and paper, but it’s what we know how to do.
