M M Book Plaza

Out here in Lingarajapuram, things feel a bit more local. M M Book Plaza is located at 215 Ramachandrappad Layout. We are on the 6th Main, right at the 16th Cross in Kariyanaplaya. It is a bit of a maze if you aren’t from around here. Our shop is a straightforward place. We have stacks of books piled up, sometimes reaching the ceiling. We don't really have a system that makes sense to anyone else, but we know where everything is kept. The 16th Cross is mostly residential, so it stays fairly quiet until the kids get out of school. Then it gets a bit noisy for a couple of hours. We have a heavy wooden counter that has been with us since we opened. There is a small stool behind it where we sit when there are no customers. We spend a lot of time dusting. Books seem to catch dust faster than anything else in the world. The windows are small, so we keep the tube lights on all day. It isn't a huge plaza like the name might make you think, just a regular local shop. We see the same neighbors every day. Sometimes they just stop to say hello on their way to the market. We just keep the door open and wait for whoever needs something. It’s a steady kind of life here in the layout.
