Lavanya Book & Stationery

You can find us at 43 near the Chetan Theatre on Infantry Road. This area is always moving, especially when a new movie is playing at the theatre. Lavanya Book & Stationery has been here through many changes in the main market. We carry a bit of everything, not just books but pens, pencils, and those big ledger books people use for business. The shop isn't very wide, so the aisles are narrow. If two people are looking at the same shelf, it gets a bit tight. I like the morning time best when it’s still quiet and the sun is just coming up over the buildings. I sweep the front every day, but the dust from the road always finds its way back in. Our counter is piled with small items like erasers and sharpeners because people always lose those. The ceiling is high but we’ve used every inch of the wall for storage. Some of the boxes at the very top haven't been opened in a while. People come in asking for things I haven't heard of sometimes, and we have to go looking through the old catalogues. It's a practical shop. We don't spend money on decorations because we'd rather have more stock. I’ve lived around here long enough to see businesses come and go, but we just keep doing our thing. The overhead fans click a lot but they keep the air moving enough so it doesn't get stuffy.
