Khadira Book Depot

Khadira Book Depot is located right in the heart of Shivaji Nagar. It is a very busy area with a lot of history and a lot of people moving around at all hours of the day. Our shop is a simple place with rows of books that cover everything from local stories to school subjects for the kids. We have been here for a while now, and the building shows its age a bit. The floor is slightly uneven in the middle and the shelves are a little wobbly in the back corner. I usually start the day by pulling up the metal shutters and setting out a few boxes of discounted books near the entrance. The street outside is full of vendors and the smell of food from the nearby stalls is always there. It can get very hot inside during the summer months, so we keep a small table fan running near the cash box to stay cool. We don't do any big advertising; people just find us while they are walking through the market. I handle most of the sales myself. Sometimes I chat with the regulars about what is happening in the neighborhood. It is a very lived-in space. There are stacks of old magazines in the corner that haven't been touched in a long time. We just keep going, selling one book at a time to whoever walks through. It’s just how things go for us in Shivaji Nagar.
