Jyothi Book Centre

Jyothi Book Centre is right at 141 Gandhi Bazar Circle. If you know Basavanagudi, you know how busy this circle gets. We are right in the middle of it all. The shop has been here for a good amount of time. We have windows that look out onto the street, so we see everyone walking by. Inside, we have rows and rows of books. It’s a lot of paper and ink. We don’t have a lot of fancy decorations. The shelves are plain wood and they are mostly full. We spend a lot of time cleaning the glass and making sure the floor is swept. Gandhi Bazar is a lively place with flower sellers and fruit vendors nearby, so it always smells like a mix of things outside. We get a lot of regulars who stop in after doing their shopping at the market. Some people just come in to browse and stay for a while. It gets a bit crowded on weekends. We have to keep an eye on the stock because things go fast. We don't have a big corporate office or anything. It’s just us behind the counter. We handle the sales, the cleaning, and the heavy lifting ourselves. It’s a basic shop that serves the local neighborhood. We like being part of the circle and seeing the daily life of the area.
