International Book House Pvt Ltd is located at number 97 in the Samita Industrial Estate, which is right near the Indian Overseas Bank on Brigade Road. It’s a busy area, so there’s always noise from the street coming in through the door. We’ve been operating from this spot for quite some time. It's an industrial estate, so it doesn't look like your typical bookstore from the outside. Inside, it’s a lot of shelves and concrete. We have stacks of books everywhere, and sometimes it feels like we’re running out of room. The staff here mostly spends time checking lists and making sure things get to where they need to go. It’s more of a working space than a showroom. We don’t really do much in the way of decorating. If there’s a stack of books on a chair, that’s just because we were looking at them. Brigade Road has changed so much, but this corner stays pretty much the same. It can get a bit hot in the afternoons, but we keep the fans going. People stop by because they know we’ve been here forever. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything like that. It’s just a few of us making sure the books get handled right. Sometimes the delivery trucks block the entrance for a few minutes, but everyone is used to it by now. We just carry on with our work because that's what needs doing. It is what it is.
