Hari Prasad Book House

Hari Prasad Book House is located at 1156, right near the Adi Chunchanagiri Samudaya Bhavan in Vijaya Nagar. It’s a big building, so most people use it as a landmark to find our shop. We’ve been sitting in this same spot for years, watching the neighborhood change around us. Our shop is packed tight with all sorts of things, from school supplies to those hard-to-find textbooks that students always seem to need at the last minute. The walls are lined with tall shelves, and we usually have a ladder leaning against one of them because the good stuff is always at the top. It’s not the most organized place in the world, and there might be some dust on the higher ledges, but we know exactly where everything is hidden. We don't have any staff in uniforms or anything like that. It’s just us in our regular clothes, helping out whoever walks through the door. Sometimes we have the radio playing quietly in the background, usually some old songs that the younger kids probably don't recognize. We don't have a fancy coffee machine, but there’s always a kettle in the back if a friend stops by for a chat. It’s a very local kind of place where things move at their own pace. We open up the shutters every morning around ten and stay until the street lights come on.
