Gangarams Book Bureau

You can find Gangarams Book Bureau on the second floor of building 48 over on St Marks Road. We are right across from Mainland China and pretty close to the High Gates Hotel, which makes it easy for people to explain where we are. Being on the 17th Main in the 2nd Stage area means there's always something going on outside. The stairs up here can be a bit much if the lift is acting up, which happens sometimes. Inside, it’s mostly just rows of books and a few desks where we handle the paperwork. It’s not a huge place, but we make use of every corner. Sometimes the boxes pile up near the entrance when a new shipment arrives and we haven't had a chance to move them yet. It's a bit of a maze sometimes. We’ve been in this part of town for a good bit now. Most days are quiet, just the sound of pages turning or someone asking about a title. We don't have any fancy displays. It's just us and the books. The windows look out onto the street, so you can watch the traffic while you browse. We try to keep things organized, though sometimes a book ends up on the wrong shelf and stays there for a week. It’s a comfortable enough spot if you like books and don’t mind a bit of a walk up. The tea stall downstairs is also quite good if you need a break.
