Ganesh Book Bureau

Ulsoor is a nice part of Bangalore, especially around CMH Road. Ganesh Book Bureau is a bit further in at Lakshmipuram. We are at number 3 on the 17th Cross. It is a quiet street compared to the main road. We like it that way. The shop is a small room packed with books from floor to ceiling. We have a metal shutter that we pull up every morning at ten. The 17th Cross is narrow, so you can't really park a car here easily. Most people come on foot or by scooter. We have been here for years, watching the houses around us turn into small offices. We spend a lot of time organizing the shelves. If you leave it for a day, it becomes a mess again. We have a small plastic chair for guests, but most people just stand and look through the titles. The light comes in through the front door because we don't have many windows. We keep a small pot of water and some glasses for ourselves. It is a quiet business. We know the local postman and the lady who sells flowers at the corner. We just go about our business day by day. It is not a complicated life. We have our books and our regular customers, and that is enough for us.
