Delhi Book Depot

Delhi Book Depot is situated right across from the Shanimatha Temple on Nagavarapalya Main Road. It’s a good landmark because everyone knows the temple. We are in C V Raman Nagar, which is a busy part of town. The shop is small and has a bit of a low ceiling, so it can feel a bit snug when there are more than three people inside. We’ve got books piled up in no particular order sometimes, especially during the exam seasons when everyone is looking for guides. The walls are painted a simple white, though they’re getting a bit yellow now. We don't have a staff in uniforms or anything like that. It’s just us. We open up in the morning after a quick sweep of the front. The traffic on the main road is constant, so there is always a bit of background noise from the horns. Sometimes people stop by just because they are waiting for a bus nearby. We keep a variety of titles, mostly stuff that people around here ask for. It’s a very basic setup with a couple of fans to keep the air moving. If you’re looking for a shiny bookstore, this isn’t it. But if you just need a book, we are here most days. We drink a lot of tea and wait for the sun to go down so it gets cooler.
