Chethana Book House

Chethana Book House is a bit hidden away since we are on the 1st Floor of J R Mansion in Goragunta Palya. You have to come into the building and find C Wings to get to us at number 58. It’s a bit of a climb up the stairs, but it’s much quieter up here than it is down on the main street. The mansion is a large building with a lot of different offices and shops, so there’s always a bit of a mix of people in the hallways. Our space is one long room with windows that look out over the back of the property. I’ve filled the place with wooden racks that I painted myself years ago. Because we are on the first floor, we don’t get as many walk-in customers as the shops downstairs, but the people who do come up usually know exactly what they are looking for. I keep a lot of local language books and some technical stuff that students might need. The air up here feels a bit fresher, and I usually keep the balcony door open to let the breeze in. It’s a bit of a squeeze getting between the shelves if I have a big shipment of books sitting on the floor, but I usually get it sorted by the end of the day. Goragunta Palya is a busy hub, but inside C Wing, it feels like a different world. It’s just a steady, quiet place to work.
