Bharath Book Centre

Our shop, Bharath Book Centre, is at 930 near the E S I Hospital in Rajajinagar. Being near the hospital means we see a lot of people who are waiting around or visiting someone. They often want a magazine or a light book to pass the time. The shop is quite deep, and the back stays a bit dark even during the day. We have a lot of school supplies too because there are families living all around this part of Rajajinagar. I’ve lived around here my whole life, so I know most of the people who walk past the door. The sign outside is a bit crooked, but everyone knows where we are. We don't have any air conditioning, just the breeze that comes through the front door. Sometimes it’s quiet for hours, and then suddenly five people will walk in at once. It’s hard to keep the books in the right order because people pick them up and put them back in different places. I don't mind much. It shows they are looking. We have some old metal chairs for anyone who needs to rest their legs for a minute. On rainy days, the hospital area gets very crowded and people come inside just to stay dry for a bit. I don't mind as long as they don't lean against the more fragile paperbacks. It’s just part of being in this location and helping folks out.
