Archana Book House

Archana Book House is at 74 Avenue Road, right near the old ING Vysya Bank building. I’ve been spending my days here for a long time now. Avenue Road is a busy place, always full of people and noise, and our shop is right in the middle of it. We have books piled up everywhere you look. Sometimes it feels like there’s more paper than floor space, and I have to move a stack just to let someone walk past. I try my best to keep things in some kind of order, but new boxes arrive every morning and they just end up sitting in the corner until I get to them. People come in looking for all kinds of things, usually textbooks or novels for their kids. I don't have a computer system to track everything, so I just remember where I put stuff. It’s a bit dusty, honestly, but that’s just how it is when you have this many books in a small space. The fan on the ceiling wobbles a bit and makes a clicking sound that I’ve stopped noticing. Most of our customers are regulars who know exactly where to find me. We don't have any fancy signs or big advertisements. It’s just a simple book shop where we open the shutters early and close them late. It’s hard work but it’s what we do here on the road.
