A R Book Sellers

We are A R Book Sellers at number 364 on Avenue Road, right near Chandra Vihar. If you have ever been to Avenue Road, you know how packed it gets with people and carts and bikes. Our shop is one of many, and it is filled from floor to ceiling with all kinds of books. We have been in this spot for a long time. The shelves are made of heavy wood and they groan under the weight of all that paper. I spend most of my time climbing up and down ladders to reach the high stuff for people. It is a very loud street, so we have to shout a bit sometimes to be heard over the traffic noise outside. We don't have a computer system or anything like that; we just remember where things are. Most of the books are second-hand, so they have that specific old paper smell. We get a lot of dust from the street, so cleaning the covers is a never-ending job for us. The front of the shop is always open to the air. Sometimes it gets a bit chaotic when three or four people ask for different things at the same time. We usually eat our lunch in the small space behind the counter. It is a hard way to make a living with all the competition, but we like the energy. People know they can find us here on this busy road.
