We are Sanchari Women Farmers Producer Company Limited. Our group is based in Radhakrishnapur, which is over in G. Ghati, Bankura district. You can find us at Uttam Mondal’s place. It’s a group of us women working together on the farming stuff. Bankura can be a tough place to farm because it gets so dry, but we manage. We aren’t some big company from the city. We are just local women trying to get a better deal for our crops. Working as a producer company lets us help each other out. Uttam Mondal helps with the coordination and the address side of things. Most days we are out in the fields or meeting to discuss what we should plant next. It’s not always smooth. Sometimes we argue about things, and sometimes the crops don’t grow as well as we hoped. But that’s farming for you. We don’t use any big words to describe ourselves. We just do the work. Radhakrishnapur is a small village and everyone knows what we are doing. We’ve had to learn a lot about how to run a company while also doing the physical labor of farming. It’s a lot to handle, but we stay with it. Sanchari is just our way of staying independent and making sure our families are okay. We’re just here in G. Ghati, doing what we can. It’s hard to predict the future, so we take it one day at a time. We are neighbors trying to make it work.
