If you head down Lici Road in Khatra, you’ll find us near Santanu De’s place. Bankura is a bit of a dry area sometimes, but it works alright for what we do at Sreyan Poultry Farming Private Limited. Poultry is a 24-hour job, really. The birds don't care if it's a holiday or if you’re tired. You have to be there to feed them and make sure they’re staying healthy. It’s a lot of manual work, carrying sacks of feed and cleaning out the sheds. The heat in Bankura can be really intense during the summer months, so we spend a lot of time making sure the ventilation is right and the water is cool enough. It’s not the kind of job where you sit behind a desk all day. We’re usually covered in dust or feathers by noon. Our neighbors around Khatra know us well since we’ve been operating here for a while now. We just focus on the daily tasks of running a poultry farm without any big fuss. It’s a local business through and through. We started small and we’ve just stayed focused on the birds. There are always problems to solve, like a broken feeder or a shipment that’s running late, but that’s just how it goes. We don't have any big speeches to give about what we do. We just wake up, do the chores, and hope for a good season.
