Maa Annapurna Krishi Udyog Private Limited is located over in Vill-Bhutama, which is part of the Nachna post office area in Bankura. Ram Saran Layek is the person who looks after the place. In this part of Bankura, everything revolves around the farming seasons. We set this up because we wanted to have a proper name for the work we were already doing with the local farmers. It is a bit far out from the main town, but that is where the fields are. We deal with agricultural stuff, mostly helping people get what they need for their land. We aren't big shots or anything. Most of the time we are just wearing our regular clothes and walking through the village to check on things. The name Maa Annapurna is important to us because she is the one who provides food, and that is what we are all about. We have some storage space and a small desk where Ram Saran keeps the books. It gets dusty and the electricity goes out sometimes, but we keep going. We don't do much advertising because everyone in Bhutama knows where we are. If someone needs seeds or just some advice on their crop, they just walk up to the house. It's a simple way of doing business but it works for us. We just want to make sure the local harvest is good every year.
