Jangalmahal Producer Company Limited is based out of Ranibandh in Bankura. Specifically, we are at Nimdanga, C/O Paban Kumar Das. The pin code is 722148. This area is quite rural and has a lot of trees and hills, which is why it is called Jangalmahal. We work with the local producers who live in the surrounding villages. It is not an easy place to get to sometimes because the roads aren't always in the best shape, especially after a big storm. Our office is a simple room in a house and we don't have much in the way of luxury. We mostly just sit around and talk about the forest produce or the farming crops that the local folks are bringing in. Paban keeps the books and makes sure we don't lose track of the payments. There are a lot of challenges living out here, like the distance to the main market and the lack of good internet sometimes. But we like the quiet and the people are hard workers. We just try to help them get a fair deal for what they grow or gather from the woods. It is a community thing more than anything else. We are just local people trying to make things a little better for everyone in Ranibandh. We do what we can with the little bit we have.
