Thiru Murugan Tiffin Corner

We have been running Thiru Murugan Tiffin Corner for quite some years now. Our spot is in the Saphalyam Building on M G Road in Palayam. It is right near the Palayam market so the whole area is always loud and crowded with people buying vegetables or catching buses. We usually open up quite early in the morning because that is when the office workers and laborers are looking for something to eat before they start their day. The kitchen gets very hot, especially in the Thiruvananthapuram humidity, but we are used to it by now. We mostly make the usual things like idli, dosa, and vada. There is no big secret to what we do, we just cook and serve. My hands are usually busy with the batter or cleaning the plates. The furniture is a bit old and the walls could probably use some fresh paint, but it works for us and the regulars don't seem to mind. We see the same faces every single morning. Some people have been coming here since they were much younger. We don't do any fancy advertising or have a big sign. Most people just know we are here because of the smell of the sambar. It is hard work standing on your feet all day, but it is a living. We just focus on getting the food ready on time so nobody misses their work. That is basically our daily life here in Palayam.
