Arul Jyothi Vegetarian Restaurants

The shutters go up early at Bakery Junction. It is usually still a bit dark when the first pots start boiling in Thiruvananthapuram. Arul Jyothi Vegetarian Restaurants has been part of this corner for a while now. We spend most of our time in the kitchen or out front making sure the tables are wiped down before the office crowd arrives. It gets really busy around lunch. You can hear the plates clattering and people talking over their meals. The air smells like toasted spices and fresh coffee most of the day. It’s a lot of work keeping up with everyone who stops by. We don't have fancy furniture or anything like that. Just regular tables and chairs where people sit down to eat something warm. Sometimes the rain hits the windows and everyone stays a bit longer. Our staff knows most of the regulars by face. We see people coming from the junction after getting off the bus. By the time evening rolls around, the pace slows down just a little, but there is always cleaning to do. We just keep things moving one day at a time. It is a simple place where the focus is just on the food and getting people fed. We don't spend much time on decorations or big signs. The address on Tc. 26/890 is where we spend our whole day. That is just how life is here.
