Palm Top Restaurant

Our place is inside the Maurya Rajadhani Hotel on G H Road. We are right across from the Government Secretariat here in Thiruvananthapuram. Being in this part of town means things are always moving and changing. There are lots of people working in the government offices nearby, so we see a lot of them during the work week. The street outside can get pretty loud with all the buses and cars honking. We spend our time making sure the dining room is ready for whoever walks in next. It is a simple routine for us. We start early, get the coffee going, and make sure the tables are wiped down properly. The hotel has its own flow, and we are just a small part of that bigger operation. Some days are much busier than others, especially when there is something important going on at the Secretariat. We do not have any big speeches to make. We just work here. The kitchen staff stays busy with the orders, and the rest of us handle the floor. It is a job like any other. We like the view from up here sometimes, looking out over the road and the people. The weather in Kerala can be unpredictable, so we are always prepared for a sudden downpour of rain. We just keep the doors open and wait for the next person to come in. It is just about being here and doing the work.
