Hotel Saravana Bhavan

Hotel Saravana Bhavan is located in the Srekripa Building over in Pazhavangadi. We are right near the Ajantha Theatre, which is a well-known landmark in this part of Thiruvananthapuram. Being in Pazhavangadi means we are very close to the famous Ganapathi temple, so the area is always lively. There’s a lot of traffic on the road, and you can always hear the buses and autos going by. Our building is a bit older, and it has a very local feel to it. It’s not one of those tall glass hotels you see in the newer parts of the city. Inside, things are pretty straightforward. We have a dining area where we serve meals, and it gets quite crowded during lunch and dinner times. People come here for the food more than anything else. The staff is always rushing around with plates of rice and sambar. It’s noisy and a bit chaotic, but that’s how we like it. We’ve had some of the same cooks for a long time, and they know how to keep the kitchen running. The rooms upstairs are basic and mostly used by people staying for a night or two. We spend our time fixing little things and making sure the spice containers are full. It’s a lot of hard work in a hot climate, but it’s what we do every day. It’s just a regular local spot for anyone passing through.
