Hotel Rockholm (Kovalam)

If you walk down Light House Road in the Vizhinjam P.O. area, you will eventually come across Hotel Rockholm (Kovalam). We are right there near the end of the road. The pin code is 695521. Being so close to the lighthouse means we get a lot of wind from the sea. You can smell the salt in the air most days, which is nice. It’s a quiet spot compared to the main beach area where all the crowds go. The building is older and has a lot of character from the years it’s been here. We don't have those shiny modern surfaces you see in the new hotels. Our floors are made of stone and the windows are wood. We spend a lot of time sweeping out the sand that blows in from the coast. It’s a constant battle with the dust, but we don’t mind it. The staff here are all from the local village. We’ve known them and their families for years. We don’t have a formal way of doing things. If a guest needs something, they just find one of us and ask. We have some chairs outside where you can sit and watch the light from the lighthouse at night. It’s a very calm place to be if you like that sort of thing. We don’t have loud music or big parties. It’s just us, the road, and the sea nearby.
