Shivsakti Flour Mill

Our place, Shivsakti Flour Mill, is at L-1 on Anand Mahal Rd. We are right near the Gail Tower and just across from the Bank of Baroda in Adajan. It is a busy spot, so there is always something to see out the front door. We have the grinding machines set up towards the back so the noise doesn't bother the neighbors too much, but you can still hear the hum. People from the apartments nearby bring their grain in all sorts of containers. Some use old plastic buckets and others have cloth bags. We try to keep things moving so nobody has to wait too long out in the sun. The shop is small and filled with the smell of ground wheat and bajra. We have a few benches for people to sit on, but usually, they just stand and chat while they wait. The floor is a bit uneven and there are white footprints leading out onto the sidewalk from the flour dust. It is a simple business. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just know where we are because we have been in this spot near the tower for a long time. We handle the grains, weigh them out, and hand them back. That is the whole day, from morning until the sun goes down and the street lights come on. It's just a regular part of life here.
