Jay Veer Krupa Flour Mill

The sun comes up and we start opening the shutters here at Jay Veer Krupa Flour Mill. We are located right on South Zone Office Road, which stays pretty busy most of the day. If you pass by Tera Panth Bahavn, you’re basically there. Gayatri Society is our home ground, and Udhana Village has a lot of people who depend on us for their daily needs. It’s not a fancy job, grinding grain all day long. My hands are usually rough from handling the sacks. The air inside the shop always smells like crushed wheat. It’s a good smell, actually. We don’t have many employees, just a couple of us making sure the stones are set right for the flour. Sometimes people bring in different types of grains and we have to adjust everything. It takes time. We don't like to rush because that's how mistakes happen. The floor is always a bit slippery with fine powder, so we have to be careful. Living and working in Udhna means we know most of the people who walk through that door. We hear about their kids and their work while the machine hums in the background. It’s just a regular local business. We don’t have big dreams of expanding, just keeping the current customers happy and the machines oiled. That’s enough for us. It keeps us busy from morning until the sun goes down and we can finally go home for dinner.
