You can find Apple Mills at 117, 7th Cross in Umarwada, over in Takara. It’s a busy area with a lot of small units and mills tucked into the side streets. Our place is pretty easy to spot once you get onto 7th Cross. It’s a noisy environment most of the time. The machines have a certain hum that you eventually stop hearing after working here for a few months. There is thread and lint everywhere, no matter how much we sweep. We spend the day watching the spools and making sure everything is running like it should. It’s a practical workspace, not a place for visitors to sit and relax. The walls are stained with age and the floor is worn down from people walking back and forth between the machines. Umarwada is a hardworking neighborhood. We get our tea from a guy who brings it around on a cycle twice a day. It’s a simple routine. We start early when the air is still a bit cool and we don't stop until the evening shift is done. There isn't much to say about it other than it’s honest work. We don't use big words or have complicated goals. We just keep the mill going and handle the orders as they come. It’s just how things are done here in Takara. Most of us have been working here for a long time and know the machines by sound. It is just life at the mill.
