V P Canteen

V P Canteen is a small spot at 21 Mariamman Kovil Street in Kitchipalayam. We are in the Kurumenkadu area of Salem. Our canteen is tucked away in a local neighborhood, so we don't get many tourists. It’s mostly just the people who live and work right around here. We serve basic food, the kind of things people eat every day. I’ve been running this place for several years now. It’s a very simple setup with just a few tables. Most of the time, I am behind the counter or in the back kitchen. We don't have a menu printed on fancy paper. We just tell people what we have cooked for the day. It’s a lot of work to keep a small canteen going, but it keeps us busy. The street outside can get a bit crowded with bikes and people walking to the temple. We open early in the morning for those who need breakfast before work. The 636015 area is where I grew up, so I know most of the customers who come through the door. We aren't trying to be a big restaurant. We just provide simple meals at a fair price. The interior is nothing special, just a place to sit and eat. We do our own washing and cooking. It is a local business run by local people. We just take it one day at a time here in Kurumenkadu.
