Sekar Head Cook

Sekar Head Cook is based out of Chinnamuthu Street in the Ponnamapettai area of Salem. This isn't a restaurant where you come and sit down at a table to order. It’s more about the work I do as a head cook for various events and gatherings around town. People in Ponnamapettai know where to find me when they have a function coming up. I spend a lot of my time planning out meals and figuring out how much of everything we need to buy. Salem has some good markets, so I’m often out early getting the right ingredients I can find. Chinnamuthu Street is where I keep all my gear and where the prep work happens sometimes before we head out. It’s a busy life, especially when there are a lot of functions in one week. I don't have a big office or a fancy website. It’s just me and the crew I work with. We go where the work is. Cooking for a large group is different than just making a meal at home. You have to be organized and keep your head on straight when things get hot in the kitchen. I’ve been doing this for a long time, so I’ve seen it all. People just call or stop by the house in Ponnamapettai when they need someone to handle the food for their guests. It’s hard work, but it’s what I do.
