P.U.M.School

We are located in Salem, over on Bharathiyar Street in Peramanur. The address is New No 133, though some people still know it as Old No 72B. It is an older neighborhood and the school has been here for a long time. The street is usually full of people and small shops, and we are just another part of that daily scene. Our building is a simple structure with several rooms for the students. It has got that old-fashioned school feel with high ceilings and thick walls. We do not have much in the way of modern décor. Instead, we have rows of benches and charts made by the students hanging on the walls. The teachers here are used to the rhythm of the neighborhood. We start early and end when the sun is still high. There is always a bit of dust from the street, and we spend a fair amount of time keeping the place tidy. Most of the families around here are working-class people who want their children to have a local place to study. We do not try to be anything we are not. It is just a place for learning the basic subjects and getting a foundation. Nothing fancy, just the daily work of a small school in the middle of Salem. We keep our doors open and just get on with it, year after year. It is a steady way to live.
