Panamarathupatti is a bit away from the main hustle of Salem city, and that’s where you’ll find our school. Christopher Matriculation Higher Secondary School is a place that feels very local. We have a lot of students who come from the surrounding areas. The school building has several floors, and you can see the hills in the distance on a clear day. It’s a simple setup. We have classrooms, a small library, and some space for sports. The teachers here mostly live nearby, so everyone knows everyone else. It’s not uncommon to see a teacher chatting with a parent at the local market. Our days start with the morning assembly, which is usually a bit loud until everyone settles down. We don't use a lot of fancy words to describe what we do. We just teach the subjects, look after the kids, and try to keep the place running smoothly. Sometimes the fans in the classrooms need a bit of oiling, and the walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but it’s a functional space. During the rainy season, the yard gets a bit muddy, but the kids don't seem to mind. We focus on the basics and making sure the students are prepared for their exams. It is a steady, quiet life out here in Panamarathupatti, and we are fine with that.
