St Thomas Matriculation School

Kitchipalayam is a busy part of Salem, and Sanniyasigundu Main Road always has something going on. Our school is at No 5. It’s a matriculation school, so we handle all sorts of ages. The morning rush is always a bit of a headache with the cycles and the school vans. The building is a bit older, and you can see the wear and tear on the stairs. We try to keep it clean, but with hundreds of kids running around, there’s always some dirt. We have a playground, but it’s mostly just an open space for sports. It’s not some manicured lawn. We have a library with some old books that the kids still like to read. The teachers here are mostly from around Salem. They know the families. We don't have air conditioning, just the big ceiling fans that hum all day. When it rains, the sound on the roof is so loud you have to shout a bit to be heard. We don't have a lot of corporate rules. We just try to make sure the kids learn what they need to. It’s a very down-to-earth place. We don't spend money on glossy brochures. People just know us because we’ve been here for years. It’s a community school in the truest sense. Everyone knows the way to our gate. We don't need fancy signs to tell people what we do here.
