Down on Rangaswamy Street in Gugai, you’ll find our school. It’s at number 64. Being in Salem, we’re right in a busy neighborhood where everyone knows everyone else. We’ve been here for years, and the building shows a bit of age, but it’s sturdy. We handle students for their higher secondary years, which is a pretty important time for them. There is a lot of pressure with exams and all that, but we try to keep the atmosphere somewhat relaxed. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. Word of mouth is how most people find out about us. We spend our days in the classrooms, going through the syllabus and making sure the students understand the material. Sometimes we have to stay late to finish up some grading or help a student who is falling behind. It’s just part of the job. The street outside is usually full of bikes and people walking by, so it’s never really quiet until late at night. We don’t have a fancy canteen or anything, just a simple place where kids eat their lunches. We focus on the teaching and let everything else take a back seat. It’s a practical way to run a school. We’re just regular people trying to help the local youth get through their final school years without too much trouble. It’s hard work, but we keep at it.
