Starting the day at No. 44 Gundu Salai is usually a bit noisy because of all the traffic on 100 Feet Road. We have been here in Natesan Nagar for a good while now, just running our small travel office. Most days it is just us sitting around the old desks, looking at bus schedules and train timings on the computer screens. We keep some travel brochures on the rack by the door, though they get a bit dusty if we do not move them around every week. People walk in asking about tickets to places they want to visit for their holidays. Sometimes they just want to know how much a taxi might cost to get them to the station on time. We try to keep track of everything, but things change fast in the travel world and it is hard to keep up. The office is not very big, just enough room for a few chairs and the filing cabinets where we keep all the old bookings. It gets a bit hot in the afternoons when the sun hits the front window, so we usually keep the blinds halfway down. We drink a lot of tea while we work through the piles of paperwork for the groups going out next week. It is a lot of phone calls and checking names twice to make sure nobody gets left behind. We know the neighbors around here pretty well by now. It is just a regular local business trying to keep things moving.
