Jehovah Tourism is tucked away at No 105 on Gingee Salai here in Pondicherry. It’s a straightforward kind of place where we deal with all sorts of tourism stuff every day. We’ve been at this address for a while and we’ve seen the street change quite a bit over the years. Some days are packed with people asking about bus timings or local tours, and other days we just sit and wait for the phone to ring while the ceiling fan hums overhead. We don’t have a big marketing department or anyone writing fancy speeches for us. It’s just us, the staff, sitting at our desks and trying to figure out the best routes for travelers. Gingee Salai can get a bit congested during the peak hours, but it’s a good spot to be in. We get a lot of walk-ins from people who are just wandering around the city. We try to give them practical advice about where to go and how to get there. It’s a small operation, really. We keep our records in books and on the computer, making sure everyone’s plans are in order. It’s not a high-pressure environment; we just take things as they come and try to be helpful to anyone who stops by the office. We've lived in Pondicherry our whole lives, so we know the way things work around here.
