Gram Restaurant

Gram Restaurant is located at number 150 in the Pudhunagar area of Pondicherry. If you go behind the Pothys store, you’ll run right into us. We aren't on the main beach road where all the tourists go, which is fine by us. We mostly see the local folks who live and work around 605003. The place is pretty small, just a few tables and a kitchen that stays fairly busy. We don’t have a big fancy menu with pictures. It’s just a list of what we’re cooking that day. Usually, it’s rice, some sambar, and whatever vegetables were fresh at the market this morning. The walls are painted a simple color and we don’t have any expensive decorations. It’s the kind of place where the water comes in steel tumblers and the food is served hot. We don't have air conditioning, but the breeze from the street usually keeps it okay. Sometimes we run out of the special curry by one o'clock, so people try to get here early. It’s just us running the place, cooking and cleaning up after everyone. We like the neighborhood vibe here behind Pothys. It feels real. You won’t find any fancy plating here, just a good amount of food on your plate. We just keep the stove going and hope people leave with a full stomach. It's a simple life for us here in Pudhunagar. We don't worry about being fancy or popular. We just focus on the cooking. That’s all there is to it.
