Crown Chines Corner

We set up shop at No:33 on Saint Theresa Street in Pondicherry. It’s quite close to the M.G Road cutting, so it’s easy to find if you’re wandering around the city center. We mostly make the kind of food you find at a local Chines corner, with flavors that fit what people on the street here like. It’s mostly just us in a small kitchen, tossing pans and getting orders out to the people waiting on the sidewalk. The 605001 area is usually busy with tourists and locals, so we see a good mix of people. We aren't a big restaurant with waiters and all that. It’s more of a corner where you get your food and maybe eat it right there or take it home. The street can be narrow, so parking is always a bit of a headache, but people still manage to come by. We’ve been at this spot for a while, just trying to keep the flavors consistent. It gets humid in Pondy, so standing by the burners is hard work, but we’re used to it. No website or anything like that for us. Most people just know we're here because they smell the garlic and ginger when they walk past the cutting. We keep the menu simple because it’s easier to manage that way. It’s just a basic food stall doing what it can in a busy part of town.
