If you head over to Thakurmunda in Mayurbhanj, you will find us at Plot No.584 in Gouriguda Padiabeda. Murgasuni Farmers Producer Company Limited is basically a group of us coming together. Farming out here in Mayurbhanj isn't easy. The weather does whatever it wants and sometimes the market is just tough. We decided it was better to work as a group rather than everyone struggling alone on their own small patch of land. Most of the people involved are local farmers from the surrounding villages. We meet up when we can, usually outside or in a small room, to talk about seeds and what we are going to grow next. There is a lot of mud around here during the monsoon. It makes getting to the plot a bit of a challenge. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. It is just us trying to make sure our families have enough and that we can sell what we grow for a fair price. Sometimes the paperwork gets confusing, but we help each other out with it. You might see a few of us sitting around drinking tea and arguing about the price of fertilizer. That’s just a normal Tuesday for us. We’ve been here for a while and everyone in the neighborhood knows where the office is. It's a quiet part of Orissa, but we stay busy. It’s hard work, but at least we are doing it together.
