We are based out of Jashipur in Mayurbhanj, specifically over in Sunapal, Dhalabani. Our spot is at Puspangini Mohanty’s place, who is the secretary here. Meghasini Farmers Producer Company Limited came together because we needed a way to organize ourselves better. In this part of Mayurbhanj, life revolves around the seasons. When it rains, everything stops, and when it’s dry, we are all worrying about the water. We are a collective of local farmers. Most of us have been working the soil since we were kids. This office isn't much to look at, just a place where we keep our records and meet to discuss the harvest. Sambandh helps us out with the logistics of it all. It gets pretty busy around harvest time. You will see people coming in and out with bags and receipts. It’s not always organized perfectly. Sometimes someone forgets a document or the power goes out while we are trying to type something up. But we manage. We’re just trying to get a decent deal for the crops we put so much sweat into. It’s a community thing, really. Everyone knows everyone else's business, which has its pros and cons. We focus on what needs to be done today. Tomorrow will bring its own set of problems. If you are ever near Jashipur, you will probably see our sign or bump into one of us at the local market.
