You can find our place at No 19 on East Street in Singarayar Colony. We are tucked away just behind the Kattu Pillaiyar Koil in the Narimedu area. It is a quiet enough spot until we get the stoves going in the early morning. We started this because we wanted to work for ourselves and cooking was what we knew how to do best. The kitchen is our main world. We spend hours there every day. It’s not just about the cooking; it’s the cleaning, the sorting of lentils, and making sure we have enough firewood or gas for the day. Narimedu is a nice area and being near the temple means we get a lot of people walking by and peeking in. We don't do much in the way of marketing or fancy ads. Most of our work comes from people who have eaten our food at someone else's house or at a local function. We handle things simply here. We write down what the customer wants, we buy the fresh ingredients, and we cook it. There are no fancy brochures or complicated contracts to sign. It's just a handshake and a promise to have the food ready when they need it. Sometimes it gets stressful when multiple orders come in at the same time, but we manage to get through it. We just like to keep it local and keep it real for the people in our community. That is just how we do things on East Street.
