Ramachandran Brick Works

We've been over here on Rameshvaram Road for a good while now. It's just a regular brick yard in Teppakulam. Dealing with mud and fire is what we do every day. The work is dusty and loud, but that is how bricks get made. Most days you will find us out in the yard checking the kilns or loading up a tractor. It’s not fancy work, just honest labor. People around here know where we are, right at 68-5. We usually start early before the sun gets too hot. Sometimes the weather doesn't play nice and we have to slow down, but mostly we just keep at it. If you walk past, you’ll see the stacks piled up high. We don't have a big office or anything, just the shed and the kilns. It is mostly family and a few helpers from the neighborhood working together. We handle the clay, set the bricks to dry, and then they go into the fire. It takes time to get it right. We just try to make enough to keep the builders happy and the yard running. Nothing more to it than that. Just a local spot making bricks for whoever needs them. Come by if you're looking for us, we are usually around during the day. Sometimes the dust gets everywhere, but that's just part of the job. We've seen a lot of changes in the area over the years, but the way we make our bricks stays pretty much the same.
