Shaji Power Bricks

You can find us at No :1/220 B on the Madurai Melur Main Road, right in Chithambatti. It is a busy stretch of road, so there is always noise from the trucks and buses passing by. We deal with what we call power bricks here. It is a lot of heavy lifting and moving things around the yard all day. We start early in the morning before the sun gets too hot, though in Madurai, it is almost always hot. The yard is mostly an open space where we keep the finished stock piled up. We have been at this location for a while, and the locals know us as the place on the main road. We don't have a polished showroom. Mostly, it’s just us in our work clothes, dealing with the sand and the cement. When people stop their vehicles to ask about prices, we just tell them what we have in stock and how soon we can get it to them. It is a simple way to run a business. We focus on the work at hand and don't worry much about anything else. Sometimes the machines act up and we have to spend half the day fixing them, which is frustrating. But that is how it goes when you work with equipment. The dust from the road gets on everything, but you get used to it. We just keep making the bricks and loading them up for whoever comes by. It’s practical work for practical people. We stay busy until the sun goes down.
