Standard Bricks

Standard Bricks is based out of Keeladi Village in Sivaganagai. We are at number 47. This part of the country has a lot of history with clay and earth, and we are just continuing that in our own way. We spend our days out in the yard, working with the mud and the kilns. It is a slow process, making bricks. You have to wait for them to dry in the sun and then fire them just right. The village of Keeladi is a quiet place, and we like it that way. We don't have any corporate offices or polished managers. It’s just us and the workers from the village. The red soil here is what makes it all possible. We see the seasons change and adjust our work to match. In the summer, the heat is intense, but that’s good for the bricks. When the monsoon comes, we have to scramble to keep everything dry. We aren't trying to change the world; we are just making bricks for the people in Sivaganagai and the surrounding areas. Sometimes people stop by just to see how the process works. We have a simple setup at 47 Keeladi Village. It’s been our home for a while. We work hard, we get dirty, and we go home tired. It is a basic way to make a living, but it feels right to us. That is the story of our yard.
