Parthiban Brick

We’ve been running things at 258, Nedungulam for quite some time now. It is mostly just us working with the red earth and getting the kilns ready every morning before the sun gets too high in the sky. My hands are usually covered in dust by ten o'clock, but that is how it goes when you’re making bricks. We don't have a big fancy office or anything like that. There is just the yard and the space where we stack the finished loads for people to see. Sometimes the weather makes it hard to dry everything out, especially when the rains start coming down unannounced. Most folks around here know where we are located because they see the trucks pulling in and out of Nedungulam throughout the day. We just try to keep up with the work. It is a lot of heavy lifting and making sure the fire stays hot enough. Sometimes we run out of space to put the new batches, so we have to reorganize the whole back area. It isn't a clean job, but it is what we do. People come by, look at what we have ready in the yard, and we figure out how to get it to them. It is all pretty straightforward. No one here wears a suit. We are just local people who know how to handle clay and fire. The neighborhood is quiet mostly, except for when the machinery is going. We like it that way.
