Tiger Brand Gura Masala

Tiger Brand Gura Masala is located at Post Barasat. If you are looking for us, we are right near the Vodafone tower house. That tower is the easiest way to find the place. We have a small workshop there. It’s where we grind all our masala. The work is very messy. By the end of the day, everything is covered in a fine layer of red and yellow powder. We wear old clothes because the stains never really come out. We have a few big grinding machines that we bought second-hand. They need a lot of maintenance. I spend at least an hour every morning oiling the parts and making sure they are ready to go. We don't have a big team. It’s just me and two other guys from the neighborhood. We listen to the radio while we work to keep our spirits up. The area around the tower is mostly open ground, so there’s a bit of a breeze. That’s helpful because it gets very hot inside the workshop. We pack the masala into small packets and seal them by hand. Sometimes we lose count of how many we’ve done. We aren't trying to be a famous brand. We just want to make a product that people in Barasat like to use. It’s hard work and the spice dust makes our eyes water sometimes. But we’ve been doing it for years now and we’re used to it. The machinery is loud, but it’s the sound of us making a living.
