Radharam Sohanlal Pvt. Ltd. is tucked away at 3 Mallick Street. If you know this part of the city, you know how narrow and crowded the lanes are. Our office is right in the thick of it. We’ve been here for a long time, and the building definitely shows its age. We deal with textiles and fabrics, so the space is usually filled with rolls of cloth and heavy ledgers. It’s not the kind of place with air conditioning and fancy chairs. We use old wooden desks and the fans hum all day long to keep the air moving. Most of our business is done over the phone or with people walking in from the street to check on their orders. It’s a lot of back-and-forth about prices and delivery dates. We don’t have a marketing department or anything like that. Word travels by mouth in this market, and that’s how we’ve always operated. Some days the street is so blocked with handcarts that we can barely get our own goods out, but that’s just life on Mallick Street. We take things as they come. There’s always someone stopping by for a cup of tea and a chat about the market. We just keep doing what we’ve always done, focusing on the fabric and making sure the numbers in the books match up at the end of the day. It's nothing special, just our daily work.
