The Spice Maker

If you want to find where we work, you have to head right into the heart of the old market area. The Spice Maker is located on the Main Link in Saraf Bazar, specifically down Lashkari Lane. It is a very narrow area, and it is almost always crowded with shoppers and people carrying heavy loads. The air around here always smells strongly of cumin, turmeric, and dried chilies. It can be a bit overwhelming if you are not used to it, but we have grown to love it over the years. We have been operating out of this lane for a long time now. Our shop is small and packed right to the ceiling with bags, boxes, and jars. There is not much room to move around, but we have a system that works for us. We spend our days weighing out different spices, talking to our regular customers, and dealing with the summer heat. It is not an air-conditioned office; it is a real, working market stall. We get our hands dirty every single day. There is a lot of noise from the bazaar outside, with people shouting and bicycle bells ringing, but that is just the background music to our lives. We do not do much advertising because everyone in Saraf Bazar already knows where we are. We just focus on keeping the stock fresh and the scales accurate. It is a traditional way of doing business that has not changed much.
